A Foundation of Health

At Ragdoll Kittens Cattery, we believe a great companion starts with a healthy start. Every breeding cat in our program undergoes comprehensive health testing before producing a litter. We spare no expense when it comes to the well-being of our cats and kittens.

Our health guarantee is built on transparency and the results of thorough veterinary screening. Below are the core health measures we take with every adult and breeding Ragdoll in our home.

Health Testing Standards

DNA Testing for HCM

All adult and breeding Ragdolls have been DNA tested negative for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), the most common genetic heart condition in cats. This screening helps ensure our kittens are not predisposed to this inherited disease.

Infectious Disease Screening

Every adult cat has been blood typed and tested negative for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus), and feline heartworm disease via the SNAP feline triple combo test.

Closed Cattery Policy

We maintain a closed cattery — no stud service is offered and no outside cats enter our home. This policy protects our cats and kittens from exposure to outside pathogens and helps us maintain a controlled, healthy environment.

What This Means for Your Kitten

When you bring home a Ragdoll kitten from our cattery, you can feel confident that it comes from parents who have been carefully screened. Our kittens are raised indoors, handled daily, and given the best possible start — physically and socially.

  • Parents DNA tested negative for HCM
  • Parents tested negative for FIV, FeLV, and feline heartworm
  • Kittens raised cage-free in a family home environment
  • Daily handling and socialization from birth
  • Closed cattery — no outside cats, no stud service

Our Philosophy

We are a small, TICA-registered hobby cattery in Helena, Montana. Breeding is not a volume business for us — it's a labor of love. Every kitten is raised underfoot as part of the family, and we treat their health as we would our own.
